Krishna janmashtam Banner CDR File Banner CDR File , also known as Krishna Janmashtami, is a significant festival in the Hindu calendar, commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. The festival is observed on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) in the month of Bhadrapada, which usually falls in August or September.
The Story of Lord Krishna’s Birth
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna was born to Devaki and Vasudeva in a prison cell in Mathura, where his parents were imprisoned by his uncle, King Kamsa. It is said that a divine prophecy had foretold that Devaki’s eighth child would be the one to slay Kamsa, and thus, the king had imprisoned his sister and her husband to prevent the prophecy from being fulfilled. However, on the night of Krishna’s birth, a divine intervention occurred, and Vasudeva was able to escape with the newborn child, crossing the Yamuna River to reach the safety of Gokul, where he was raised by his foster parents, Nanda and Yashoda.
